Abstract: China and Hong Kong rising trade and investment relations with Latin America bring about both opportunities and challenges for both South-East Asia and Latin America regions. While rising commodity prices and demand benefit some Latin American economies with rich endowment of natural resources, others face increased competition from Chinese exports in their home and major export markets. The objectives of this conference are twofold: firstly, to present original research on the economic relations and potential of trade and FDI between China/Hong Kong and Latin America; secondly to draw some policy implications and envisage future scenarios to fulfill the tremendous potential arising from their growing bilateral relations; thirdly, to present specific country case studies in Latin America. |
